Kate and I are not heavy drinkers by any stretch of the imagination, but the strict and somewhat odd laws regarding alcohol sales in Indiana are a little upsetting. Let me summarize. First off, Kate had mentioned previously that we needed to each produce 2 forms of ID at the local green grocer to procure a six pack of beer. That has actually not happened again since. We have been carded regularly though. Anywho, so it is illegal to buy/sell alcohol on Sundays. (Sundays are for God and family, I once heard). They do keep the grocery stores stocked, and one Sunday I brought a sixer to the check-out, only to be turned down. Speaking of grocery stores, no alcohol is refrigerated. It’s all nice and warm. That must be kind of like the cool-down waiting period when you buy a gun, though I bet I could buy a gun here on a Sunday. In Colorado, where I used to live, grocery stores only sold 3.2% beer but you could buy some on Sundays. Back to Indiana, liquor stores are of course closed on Sundays. Oh, another thing: I heard this in regards to Chipotle, but apparently alcohol cannot be sold with 75 feet of a church. That one’s bizarre. It’s purely out of the sanctity of the churches I guess, because there doesn’t seem to be an normal logical explanation for it.
We’ve been taking ice skating lessons at a community rink very near own home. It has been a lot of fun. Through five lessons, neither one of us has fallen. That’s not a surprise for the angelic Kate, but for me it is. Next week is our last lesson. We might take the intermediate class at some point. Kate might even take a figure skating class. Girl can skate.
What else is new: Kate totally rocked a powerpoint presentation in her Children’s Lit class. Speaking of power point, Kate also made 2 60 question movies quizes for me with power point. She’s a super lady!
We just can’t get enough of that great Pittsburgh Pirates blog wewillneverlearn.blogspot.com. Wow! What a site! Great stories! Great ads to click! That site has it all!
We had about a foot of snow come down two Wednesdays ago. It really just started to melt yesterday. It’s been in the 50s the last two days. It feels like California a bit. One of my least favorite expressions of all time is “You don’t like the weather, wait five minutes.” It seems like every state east of California claims that with pride. But anyway, the weather didn’t change quite that quickly here, but Friday morning it was about 10 degrees or so at 8am. By 4 pm it was 56. It hadn’t been above 30 for 5 days, now all of the sudden it’s always 50. Strange.
That’s all for now. We miss you all and think about you often. The first visitor we get from California will receive a very special prize. So special, I can’t even name it.

Cute article !
And I love your ‘anywho’……………..!
You seem to be a happy go lucky, healthy, youthful couple,
with your entire lives ahead…………..so don’t take me wrong with this, but………………………………………….(here goes……………)
Please be careful with alcohol, okay ?
My late husband & I had perfect health, careers, sports active….. never drunk, nor this ludicrous bingeing (don’t know how to spell it either). But after 30 yrs of what we called moderate drinking, we each were hit with a severe, permenant health affliction, with no cure what-so-ever !!
Since losing him, 22 mos ago almost, I’ve been trying to share our story, only to find there are many similar individuals, only they’ve never spoken about it too anyone. I guess from shame or embarressment ?!?
So, what you & I think is moderate, sometimes it’s not.
And this almight drink, seems to be the biggest stress reliever, and therefore, becoming even worse !
Take care & God Bless !
Sheila:
I’m sorry for your loss. However, Andy’s wry discussion of Indiana’s blue laws hardly warrants a response regarding our health or our alcohol consumption. If we ever have such concerns, we will discuss them with our doctor and will certainly not take presumptuous advice from the internet. Perhaps you should find a more appropriate forum for your views.
Ya you tell ‘em angelica. Hey you guys know about that FANtastic Pirates site? That is one of the best ever…da
Just a hitchiker along side holiday road waiting, just waiting for another ride on the pithy, genius writing of the two travelers. Please make the wait end and give us a lift……
Please don’t get drunk and leave blog comments. This may result in a violation of our Terms of Service agreement – Section 12.44.2, regarding usage of our software while inebriated. Your TOS bore me. I am waiting until the bathtub gin I am sitting in oozes through my pores and makes me inebriated enough to violate and continue….take care and god bless
